CHAPTER 2
DIRECT SUPPORT AND GENERAL SUPPORT MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Section I. SERVICE UPON RECEIPT OF MATERIAL
2-1. UNPACKING AND INSPECTION
a.
Uncrate the test stand and set it on a solid, level floor or foundation using a suitable fork-lift through the locations
provided (fig 2-2).
b.
Remove all barrier material from the test stand.
c.
Inspect the test stand for damage to the motor housing of the varidrive, the gearcase of the varidrive (90, fig 3-5,
sheet 2 of 2), the blower motor assembly (fig 2-10), and all front panel switches and meters (figs 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, and 2-7).
d.
Check to see that all accessory interconnecting cables are in good condition and that wiring is undamaged and
secure.
NOTE
The accessories are shipped in the storage compartment or in the rectifier and battery
compartments.
e.
Inspect and tighten, as necessary, all screws, bolts, knobs, and terminals.
2-2. SERVICING
CAUTION
Running the test stand without gearcase lubricant can damage the gearcase. The gearcase is
emptied before shipment and must be filled before the test stand is placed in service.
Lubricate the gearcase of the varidrive as shown in the lubrication chart (fig 2-1 or 2-1.1).
2-3. INSTALLATION
a.
Power Requirements.
(1)
A 230/460 volt, 3 Phase, 60 Hz AC power source is required for operation of the test stand. Refer to table
2-1.
